Kelso Ascension Challenge
The Kelso Ascension Challenge is an endurance trail running event on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Kelso Conservation Area. The event uses a timed-loop format on escarpment trails and features steep climbs, flowing descents and varied trail surfaces.
Race formats include:
- 1 hour individual timed 2 km loop
- 2 hour individual timed 5 km loop
- 4 hour individual timed 5 km loop
- 6 hour individual timed 5 km loop
- 6 hour four-person relay
- 500 m children’s vertical race for ages 6 to 10
Aid stations on course are stocked with water, electrolytes and snacks; participants should bring a collapsible cup or reusable bottle because plastic cups are not supplied. The event will use professional chip timing. Race kits differ by category; 4 hour and 6 hour kits include a meal ticket in addition to bib and event swag, while other kits include a bib and event swag. All finishers who complete their race receive a finisher’s medal.
The event proceeds rain or shine and trail conditions may include mud, loose terrain and technical sections. Parking, washrooms, hydration stations and race support are located near Ascension HQ at the West Lodge. Registration closes on the day before the event on September 18, 2026 and registration fees are non-refundable, with limited transfer or deferral options available before the cutoff date.
