About the race
The Kal-Haven Trail Run is an ultra-distance event along the Kal-Haven Trail State Park, running from Kalamazoo toward South Haven. The course follows the trail and is described by the organizers as a gently downhill route with ten aid stations that provide food, hydration, and relay exchange points.
Event formats include solo and relay teams with the same overall distance of 33.5 miles. Solo participants may use up to three drop bags and must be at least 18 years old. Relay options include two-person teams and three- to six-person teams; two-person exchanges are centered near Bloomingdale, while three- to six-person teams may use suggested exchange segments along the trail with segment distances provided by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Registration is online only. Registrations received by March 21 include commemorative apparel; later registrations do not include apparel. Fees vary by entry type and by registration period. The event provides finishers with a medal and awards in five-year age groups for Male, Female, and Non-Binary categories; relay awards are given overall. The race is an RRCA championship event. Parking is restricted at the 10th Street trailhead, and an overflow parking area with shuttle service is provided for attendees. All registrations are final; no refunds or deferments are available.
