Jurassic Coast Ultra Run
This is a guided trail ultra of 30 miles along the Jurassic Coast and around the Isle of Purbeck. The event meets in Swanage, Dorset, and the route starts and finishes on a coastal beach. Entry costs £55 per person and car parking is available.
The route follows inland sections of the Purbeck Way toward the remains of Corfe Castle, then rises onto coastal ridges with long views before descending to Kimmeridge Bay, a site known for fossils. Runners continue east along the South West Coast Path, passing Chapman's Pool, Durlston Head Castle and the town of Swanage, with Old Harry Rocks near the finish.
The run is led by an experienced ultra runner and qualified guide; it is organised as a group run rather than a race. Participants are advised to have run at least 22 miles in training and to be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace of about 10 min/mile (6:15 min/km) for prolonged periods. Steeper climbs are often hiked and the group regroups regularly. A full kit list will be provided before the event. Participants need a vehicle to reach the meeting point and further details are sent a few days beforehand. An alcohol free beer may be offered at the finish, subject to availability.
