Jurassic Coast Ultra Run
This is a guided trail ultra taking place on Saturday 4 September 2027 along sections of the Jurassic Coast and the Isle of Purbeck. The route covers 30 miles, starts and finishes at a beach in Studland Bay, and lists a meeting point at Knoll Beach, Swanage, Dorset. The course follows inland paths and coastal trails including the Purbeck Way and the South West Coast Path, and passes Corfe Castle, Kimmeridge Bay, Chapman's Pool, Durlston Head Castle, the town of Swanage, and Old Harry Rocks.
The run is described as hilly and will be led by an experienced guide who is an experienced trail and ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide and coach, with ambassador roles for Salomon and Suunto. This is not a race; participants run together as a group, often hiking steeper climbs and regrouping regularly. The organiser advises participants to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace around 10 minutes per mile (6:15 min/km) for prolonged periods.
Practical details provided include an entry fee of £55 per person, a car park at the meeting location, a full kit list to be supplied, and the need for a vehicle to reach the start and finish.
