Jurassic Extinction / Jurassic Coast 100
The event follows the South West Coast Path along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, spanning from Old Harry Rocks near Studland to Orcombe Point at Exmouth. The route uses the acorn waymarking and includes exposed cliff edges, sections with livestock, and areas where the path has been diverted.
Distances offered include:
- 105 miles Poole to Exmouth, 5100 m ascent, self navigation
- 100 km Weymouth to Exmouth, 2900 m ascent, self navigation
- 70 km Poole to Weymouth, 2200 m ascent, self navigation
- 50 km Lyme Regis to Exmouth, 1730 m ascent, self navigation
- 33 km Beer to Exmouth, 1050 m ascent, self navigation
GPX files and route information are provided for each distance and live GPS tracking is used during the event. Participants should follow South West Coast Path markers and any temporary diversion signs; GPS units are recommended only as a backup. Notable diversions include a 400 m detour at Renscombe, a route inland to West Lulworth village hall from Bindon Hill, and a signed footpath across the golf course before West Bay.
Safety provision includes professionally qualified Climb South West safety staff at checkpoints, first aid cover, and mobile units on course. Support crews may meet participants between checkpoints and may accompany overnight within specified hours. Pre event transport to start locations is available and must be booked in advance; there is no return transport after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
