Jordan River Blitz Backyard
The Jordan River Blitz Backyard is a timed Backyard Ultra held along the Jordan River paved trail system with start and finish at East River Front Park. The course uses a 4.167 mile loop that runners complete once each hour for either 4, 8, or 12 hours. The Blitz variation records every lap and determines placement first by distance completed and then by cumulative time on all completed laps.
The course is paved, well marked with pink flags, cones, and signs, and has no road crossings. East River Front Park offers abundant free parking, a pavilion, playground, pickleball courts, grassy areas, and shade. Tents may be used but stakes are not allowed due to park sprinkler lines; runners must anchor tents with weights or tie downs.
Amenities include locally made finisher medals for anyone who completes at least one loop, a leather patch beanie for those who complete 12 loops, shirts, a well stocked finish area, Great Harvest Bread breakfast, pizza for longer events, Tailwind electrolyte drink, snacks, and live timing with individual lap times and cumulative totals. Xotio Media provides free race photos accessible by bib recognition with no watermark. Packet pickup is available at Salt Lake Running Company in Sandy and on race day. Each time division is capped at 60 runners to limit trail congestion. Average temperatures for the event period are about 62 F high and 44 F low.
