About the race
Ironstone 100K is presented as "A Savage Ultramarathon." It is a point to point ultramarathon of 100 km that runs across the Ridge and Valley region of southern Pennsylvania. The course travels from the Juniata River watershed into Rothrock State Forest and spans Blair, Huntingdon, and Centre counties.
The event is scheduled for July 10-11, 2027. Course materials and maps are available on multiple platforms including Footpath, Ultrapacer, Plot-a-Route, Strava, and Hello Drifter. A new manned water only aid station (AS7 Jackson Trail) is listed for recent editions, and organizers note a long overnight stretch of about 5 to 6 hours between Indian Steps and Little Flat Tower.
The race is Trail Sisters Approved and the standards listed include equal podiums and awards, women specific apparel and swag, menstrual products at aid stations, and a pregnancy and postpartum policy. A finisher flannel item is reserved for runners who complete the course in under 23 hours. The event maintains a Strava community and a volunteer trail work portal with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for trail maintenance at Rothrock State Forest.
Organizers also issued a travel advisory indicating that local lodging demand may be high in race weekend due to a large multi day regional event in Altoona and Hollidaysburg. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
