ICY-8 Adventure Trail Run

ICY-8 - February 6, 2027
The event is the 19th annual ICY-8 held at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania, VA and organized by Athletic Equation Trail Series. The format offers three main options: an 8 hour adventure, a half marathon plus, and an 8 miler. New distances for 2027 include the half marathon plus and the 8 mile option.
The course is looped and largely trail based. Approximately 90% of the course is trail and about 0.4 miles is a mix of trail and closed paved roads. Trails are single-track and double-track; over 70% are double-track and generally about 6 ft wide. Loop choices and elevation gains are provided as follows:
- 8.0 miles : about 640 ft elevation change
- 4.7 miles : about 350 ft elevation change
- short loop ~1.5 miles : about 100 ft elevation change
The 8 mile option requires participants to carry a hydration source and approximately 200 to 300 calories for safety. The half marathon plus consists of completing the largest loop, then the mid loop, then the short loop, with runners required to check in at the start/finish after each loop; there is a six hour limit to complete that distance. The start/finish area is centralized in the parking area next to the Lake Anna Visitor Center. The event takes place on park trails and adjacent recreation areas around Lake Anna.
