Ice Age Trail 50
The Ice Age Trail 50 is described as one of the oldest continuously running ultramarathons in the country. The course passes through dense deciduous forest, tall pines, rocky ridges and open prairies and features lakes, kettles, kames, erratics and other landforms left by glacial retreat more than 10,000 years ago.

Registration notes state that registration for the 2026 races opens on Sunday, December 14, with an early registration event on December 6 for certain eligible groups such as volunteers, repeat finishers, top finishers and member groups. The races typically sell out in hours, often minutes. Refunds and bib transfers are not allowed, but one year deferrals are permitted if requested by February 20, 2026.
Pre race information includes two training runs on Saturday April 18 (35 miles) and Saturday April 25 (19 miles). These training runs will be flagged and include a minimalist aid station; parking in the Nordic lot requires a state park sticker with published daily and annual fees. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources does not allow camping in the Nordic trail head area.
Race day details note that pacers are not allowed, dogs should not run on the course, medical personnel from Mercy South Hospital will be available at the start and finish area, live tracking is not available, and results are posted race night at mtechresults.com. Spectators and crew who spend time in start, finish or state parking areas need parking passes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
