Horský běh Smolník

About the race

Horský beh Smolník is an annual mountain running event held in the village of Smolník in the Slovak Ore Mountains. The 12th edition is scheduled for 14 November 2026 and offers three marked race routes with measured distances and total ascent.

The courses:

• ULTRA HBS: 51.3 km, +2150 m. The ultra route follows technical forest trails with long climbs and fast descents, includes sections across Skalisko and Hekerová, and a turn at the Volovec mountain hut. The route passes panoramic viewpoints of the Slovak Ore Mountains.
• DLHÁ HBS: 33.4 km, +1400 m. The long course runs along the ridge of the Volovské vrchy. Start and finish are located in the historical mining village of Smolník. The organisers offer a "Trailový inkubátor" program where IT Girls support novice trail runners with pacing and hydration on this course.
• KRÁTKA HBS: 11 km, +470 m. The short route traces local forest roads and old mining paths, linking valleys and viewpoints tied to Smolník's mining history.

Routes combine mountainous terrain, marked trail features and local historical context. Results from previous years and lists of registered participants are published by the organisers.
