Hoof-It For Heroes
Hoof-It For Heroes is an awareness event hosted by EquiCenter Inc. that centers on the issue of veteran and active military suicide. The event offers both an in-person and a virtual option; each option asks participants to complete 2.2 miles to represent the report that 22 veterans and active military members die by suicide each day.
The in-person event takes place at EquiCenter, 3247 Rush Mendon Road, Honeoye Falls, NY, and includes an opening ceremony led by the Honeoye Falls American Legion and the Marine Corps. The walk or run follows trails at EquiCenter, and post-event refreshments will be available. Veterans have separate registration options at no cost.
The virtual challenge runs from November 8 through November 30 and invites participants to complete 2.2 miles by running, walking, horseback riding, or another chosen form of activity. Horses and dogs may participate in the virtual option.
EquiCenter is a nonprofit facility that offers veteran programming and supportive activities, including Mission Mustang, Cooking with Heroes, and therapeutic horticulture and farming. Funds and participation from this challenge support those veteran programs and the organization’s ongoing activities for veterans in the community.
