About the race
The Hinson Lake 24 Hour Ultra Classic is the 20th annual 24-hour event held at Hinson Lake in Rockingham, North Carolina. The event uses electronic timing; each participant receives a bib and timing chip that must be worn at all times to record laps and splits. A chute is designated for runners only, and participants taking a break are asked to stay clear of the lap-counting area.
The course is a 1.5032-mile inner loop around the lake, USATF certified with code NC14103DF. The surface is a sand and gravel maintained trail through the woods. The route passes over 16 small wooden foot bridges, including a 300-foot bridge that crosses the lake. The trail will be marked on race day and chem-lights will be used for night visibility.
Pacers must be registered entrants to limit trail crowding. Parking along the entrance road is restricted to the east side to allow emergency access. The main lodge parking is limited and first come, first served. Additional parking options include the South parking lot with access from Crow Run, both sides of Crow Run, and the Moose Lodge on Crow Run. RV camping spaces are available at the Moose Lodge; they are free with donations accepted. Participants are advised to lock vehicles and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight.
Awards include overall 1st place male and female for the 24-hour and 100/K events, equivalent awards for MTC members, and medals for all participants surpassing 100/K. Entries are non-transferable, non-refundable, and there are no deferrals. Participant cut-off is 500; a wait list is used when the cut-off is reached and activated entries have 48 hours to complete registration. The event is USATF sanctioned.
