Hell Creek 100 : Wilson State Park, Sylvan Grove KS

This event offers multiple trail race distances on the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail at Wilson State Park near Sylvan Grove, KS. Races run on rugged single-track with few trees and frequent views of Wilson Lake. The course uses 20-mile loops for most distances and is heavily marked with ribbons, flags, and wrong-way signs.

Distances:

  • 10k (well-marked, does not hit any aid)
  • 20 mile (one 20 mile loop)
  • 100k (three 20 mile loops)
  • 100 mile (five 20 mile loops)
  • Pure Hell 140 (seven 20 mile loops)
  • 5-person team 100 (each team member runs one 20 mile loop)

Elevation gains reported: 10k 442 ft, 20 mile 2,024 ft, 100k 6,072 ft, 100 mile 10,120 ft, Pure Hell 14,168 ft. Two manned aid stations serve each loop at the start/finish and at Hell Hill; an unmanned water station is at mile 5 and the longest distance without water is about 6.25 miles. Runner tracking is provided approximately every 20 miles. Pacers are allowed only for Pure Hell 140 and the 100 mile race after runners reach roughly 100k; crew access is limited to manned aid stations. Minimum age is 18. Event organizers note no refunds, no bib transfers, and a deferral credit policy with percentages based on cancellation timing. GPS for the start/finish is N38°54.965 W98°30.549.
