HELIOS
Helios is a timed trail ultra held October 10–11, 2026 in Eagle, Wisconsin, in the Southern Kettle Moraine Forest. Runners complete as many loops as possible within a chosen timeframe: 6 hours, 12 hours, or 20 hours. Entries are available for solo runners or relay teams of up to four people. The event is capped at 150 runners.
All loops start and finish at the main trailhead called the HELIOS Village. Three loop options are available:
- Green Loop: 3.1 miles (5 km), Easy, 160 ft elevation
- Purple Loop: 4.93 miles (8 km), Intermediate, 551 ft elevation
- Modified Blue Loop: 6 miles (9.65 km), Intermediate, 600 ft elevation
Teams may have only one athlete on the course at a time and exchanges happen inside the village at a designated runner exchange zone. There is a cabin at the trailhead for warming and refueling, a nearby parking area for gear, and a drop bag area for 20 hour athletes.
Lap tracking uses a manual system: each lap a runner reports their athlete wristband number and loop color at a timing station. Results are posted in the cabin shortly after the race, with final results published by Sunday evening. Race amenities include hot beverages (bring your own cup), a post or midrace meal, a glowing wristband, and commemorative merchandise and finisher items.
