Hazeldean Valley Scatter Run Orienteering
This event is a scatter run or rogaine style orienteering competition held on the Hazeldean Valley Trails in Pretoria, Gauteng. Participants use a provided map and may use a compass to navigate between checkpoints, aiming to visit as many as possible within a chosen time limit. Navigation is described as generally moderate with some tricky sections across open areas, thicker undergrowth, and wooded parts with a network of roads, tracks and paths.
Entries are offered for three timed courses. Entry includes a map and SPORTident electronic timing with SI chip hire provided in the fee.
- 150 minute course - about 15 km, solo or teams of 2 to 4
- 90 minute course - about 8 km, solo or teams of 2 to 4
- 60 minute course - about 5 km, solo or teams of 2 to 4
Toilets are available near the parking, start and finish area. Refreshments will be available at Hazeldean Brewery. There will be limited water on the course so participants should arrange to carry their own for the duration of their entry. The event is run with permission to use the Hazeldean Valley Trails.
