The organization works to restore and protect the Haw River and Jordan Lake, to promote environmental education, conservation, and pollution prevention, and to serve as a public voice for the river. The Haw River is a scenic 110-mile waterway at the headwaters of the Cape Fear River Basin and includes the Jordan Lake reservoir, which provides drinking water and recreation to North Carolina. Tributaries flow through Guilford, Rockingham, Caswell, Alamance, Orange, Chatham, Wake, and Durham counties and support nearly one million people in the watershed. The event aligns with the organization’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness, provide volunteer opportunities, and share environmental education related to watershed protection.
