Punk Panther Harrogate Hustle
This is a trail event around Harrogate and Knaresborough that mostly follows attractive country paths and passes through Nidd Gorge. The route encircles the spa town of Harrogate at a radius of about 3–4 miles and is described as particularly suitable for first timers at all distances. The ultramarathon route also incorporates the Knaresborough Round and sections of the Harrogate Ringway waymarked trails.
Distances and climbs are provided for each option:
- 14.3 miles - 1105 ft climb
- 20.3 miles - 2046 ft climb
- 34.3 miles - 2468 ft climb
Checkpoints supply water, cola, energy bars, crisps and boxes with vegan and gluten free snacks. All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; trail race entrants can hire a tracker for a fee. Trackers are switched on at registration and include an emergency button that ends a competitor's race if pressed. Route GPX files and a route description are issued, with a final version emailed to competitors before the event. Routes will be taped or signed in advance but participants are advised not to rely solely on tape for navigation.
Logistics include registration at Pannal Village Hall, parking at Pannal Railway Station or on-street, toilets at registration, a maximum of 200 entrants and a minimum age of 18. Finishers receive a medal and an event T-shirt and there is homemade hot food with vegan and gluten free options available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
