About the race
The 30th annual Harriers Thetis Lake Relay is a trail relay held at Thetis Lake Regional Park in View Royal / Victoria, BC. It is the first event in the Harriers Thetis Lake Fall Trail Series and takes place on Remembrance Day, November 11.
Teams of up to four runners complete a sequence of four laps, each lap described as a 5K circuit around Upper and Lower Thetis Lake on the main trail. Teams may consist of one to four members; solo and dual entries are offered and teams with fewer members can alternate laps to complete the four. The mass start is from the road near the first runner and exchanges are made at the main beach exchange zone. Team tents are permitted at the venue.
There are multiple team categories by age and composition, including Youth (under 16), Junior (under 20), Open, Master (40+), Veteran (50+), Super Veteran (60+), Solo, Dual, Family and Walk. Category rules require women teams to be all women and mixed teams to include at least two laps run by women; age-group eligibility is based on the youngest runner.
Scoring uses team cumulative running time for the four laps. There are no bibs or chip systems; teams record split times on supplied timing sheets and on master recording boards. Awards include rosettes and ribbons for top teams in divisions and draw prizes, with additional prizes for best team name.
Amenities at the start/finish area include washrooms, change rooms, picnic tables, port-a-potties and space for team tents. Light refreshments are expected. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
