Hare Challenge
The Hare Challenge is a six hour lap event at Coombe Abbey Park, CV3 2AB, taking place on 9 March 2027. Participants complete as many 3.3 mile laps of the marked course as they wish within the six hour time limit; a half marathon requires four laps and a marathon eight laps. The format allows running, hiking or walking on the same course.
The route will use a slightly amended winter layout that avoids the grass meadow (closed October to April). Most of the course is on stone pathways; the alternative section may become muddy in wet weather. The course is described as relatively flat.
Coombe Abbey Park is managed by Coventry City Council. On-site facilities include a cafe and a toilet block by the event headquarters. Parking is charged up to £5 depending on duration. The park is near Junction 2 of the M6 and the nearest train station is Coventry.
Entry fees follow a tiered system: before 09/02/2027 the fee is £38, after 09/02/2027 the fee is £43; unaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra and no booking fee is taken. Dogs and canicross are not permitted at this event because there may be sheep in the fields. Rucking is permitted. A GPX of the route is provided but the course may be subject to last-minute changes and will be clearly marked on the day.
An optional charity donation is available for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children’s Charity. Alternatives to a medal include a tree token that results in a tree being planted and contains wildflower seeds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
