Happy Trails Marathon
The Happy Trails Marathon takes place in South Jordan, Utah, utilizing the Jordan River Parkway trail system. The event features two primary distances, both starting and finishing at East River Front Park, which offers on-site parking for participants. The courses consist almost entirely of paved trails, with a small percentage of sidewalk sections.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Marathon: 26.2 miles with approximately 970 feet of total elevation gain.
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles with approximately 221 feet of total elevation gain.
The route is designed to highlight the scenery along the Jordan River, passing through areas with flowering trees, dense woods, bridges, golf courses, and various local parks. The marathon course is approximately 97% paved trail and 3% sidewalk, while the half marathon is 92% paved trail and 8% sidewalk.
Aid stations are positioned along the course, providing water, electrolyte drinks, gels, waffles, fruit, and snacks. These stations also have first aid kits and petroleum jelly available. The marathon has a total time limit based on a 7.5 hour pace.
Registered participants receive a race shirt and a finishers medal. Post-race amenities include free race photos provided via bib recognition and a breakfast featuring local baked goods, fruit, and beverages. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
