Hambledon Hilly
Hambledon Hilly is a trail running event held at Hambledon Vineyard in the South Downs National Park on Saturday 19th September. This is the 11th edition and the event raises funds for Brain Tumour Research and Hambledon Primary School.
Races are offered over several distances and use footpaths, village lanes and estate trails:
- 1 km: Footpaths and trails within the vineyard; children may be accompanied.
- 2 km: Footpaths and trails within the vineyard; children may be accompanied.
- 5 km: Quiet lanes and village trails, finishing on the estate.
- 10 km: Lanes and trails through Hambledon village with a water station halfway.
- 20 km: Self-sufficient, self-navigated trail with sparse markings and a mandatory kit list.
Race HQ is in the large white marquee behind the vineyard restaurant. Parking is available on the estate and marshals will direct vehicles. The vineyard visitors centre will be open for tours, tasting and dining; bookings are recommended in advance. Races are chip timed and all runners receive a memento. Trophies are awarded for first, second and third places in the children and adult categories. Entry fees vary by distance, with lower fees for the 1 km and 2 km races and higher fees for longer distances. Entries close on Wednesday 16th September.
