About the race

The Grossglockner Mountain Run is a mountain race held in Heiligenblut that leads through the Hohe Tauern nature reserve and runs in the area of the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. The event takes place in July.

The main race covers 13.3 km with 1300 m of ascent. Field size is around 1100 participants. The event program includes additional offerings such as a mountain walk and children's runs.

Race-related services and event infrastructure include an expo area, shuttle information, parking and a runner service. Organisers publish results for each year and hold an award ceremony. The event also features special rankings and classifications, for example a buddy ranking, a Suzuki mountain ranking and the King and Queen of Heiligenblut category. Elite athletes take part alongside other competitors.
