Grit City Backyard Ultra
The Grit City Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra held in downtown Tacoma, Washington, with a base at 712 E 35th St. The course is a 3.3 mile loop that passes the Bridge of Glass, the Glass Museum, the Tacoma Dome, and other city views.
The loop is repeated every hour on the hour for up to 15 hours. Each completed hourly lap is counted; completing all 15 laps yields a total distance of 45.5 miles. Runners return to a central corral before each new lap; participants who do not continue are recorded as a DNF.
The event structure creates intervals between laps that participants may use to eat, change gear, rest, or receive support from a crew. The organizer notes examples such as grabbing food between loops and having crew hand supplies at the corral. Entry fee and registration windows are part of the event details.
The format emphasizes lap-by-lap progression on a short urban loop rather than a single continuous point-to-point course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
