Grindleford Gallop

Grindleford Gallop is an annual running and walking event held in March on routes through the hills of the Peak District. The event is described as a 21 mile challenge and accommodates both runners and walkers along the course.

Entries for the event are managed via SIEntries. Entry periods commonly open in November; in recent years entries have filled quickly and organisers do not operate a waiting list. Places can become available when other entrants cancel. Final race details for previous editions have been published as a downloadable race document.

Organisers have introduced operational changes based on participant feedback. For 2026 a staggered start system was offered to reduce bottlenecks in wooded sections and to provide options for a more relaxed start. The event also publishes designs for event T-shirts and buffs and maintains pages for race results, a gallery, and information about fundraising and volunteering.

The next scheduled Grindleford Gallop will take place on Saturday 13 March 2027 and will mark the event’s 30th anniversary. Past sponsors named in event material include Outside, Rab and Hassop Station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
