Grand Olde Route of York Trail Run
The Grand Olde Route of York is a trail running event in Yorkshire that uses tracks in the Escrick Estate and the Skipwith Common National Nature Reserve. The course is described as fast and mostly flat, with long stretches of solid gravel tracks and hard-packed trails that support running at pace.
Runners pass through estate woodland with tall redwood trees and onto open heathland and mixed woodland on Skipwith Common. Longhorn cattle graze the Common as part of conservation management, and deer and other wildlife may be seen. Parts of the common show traces of a Second World War RAF airfield.
Distances:
- 21.1k Half Marathon: 79 m elevation gain
- 10k: 38 m elevation gain
Event support and facilities include chip timing, water stations, first aid cover, course marshals, an event photographer, finish line goodies, a certificate, and a finisher's medal. The route is fully signed using pink arrows and pink tape, and hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
