Black Diamond Express
The Black Diamond Express is a point to point half marathon on a net descent course from Trumansburg to Cass Park in Ithaca, NY. The route passes gorges and cascades, skirts the upper tip of Taughannock Falls State Park, and follows the Black Diamond Trail and the Cayuga Lake Inlet before finishing in the Cass Park ball fields.
The surface includes hard packed gravel on the Black Diamond Trail portion. Entrants are offered a race T, a Specialized Purist custom sport bottle, a finisher medal, post-race food, and optional bus transportation to the start for those who select it at registration. There is no race-day registration.
Packet pickup is scheduled in the days before the event at Finger Lakes Running Company in Syracuse, Garrett’s Brewing Company in Trumansburg, and Finger Lakes Running Company in Ithaca. Shuttles run between the finish area and the start; organizers also allow parking at the start or finish and drop-off options.
Aid stations are placed at approximately miles 2.2, 3.5, 5.7, 8, 10.4, and 12.1 with water and sports drink; some later stations may offer fruit. Portable toilets are provided at the start, the finish, and near aid stations at miles 4.2, 6.1, and 8.7. Walkers are permitted but the event enforces a 3.5 hour cutoff. The event has a no refund policy and does not permit transfers to other runners. Live runner tracking is available via the RaceJoy app. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
