About the race
The Golden Leaf Orienteering Fest takes place 21–22 November 2026 in the Waterdown area and includes Ontario Cup #1. The weekend comprises three separate events spread over two days: a Classic, a Sprint and the Ontario Cup mass-start race. The Classic is set at Mount Nemo, a compact but detailed area with open woods, varied terrain, trails and multiple escarpment lookouts. The Classic offers four course categories: novice, intermediate, short advanced and long advanced. The Sprint will be held at Joe Sams Park, a city park with open fields, soccer pitches, baseball diamonds and a small forested section.
One sprint course is offered; the area is described as flat and conducive to fast running with significant route-choice decisions. The Ontario Cup runs at Rockcliffe Trails below the escarpment, featuring open woods, ridges, valleys and a network of mountain-bike trails. The O-Cup uses a mass start and applies a handicap system based on age and gender. Entry fees and deadlines are published: regular pricing applies through 8 November and a late period runs 9–15 November. Published fees list separate rates for adults and juniors/students, and discounted packages for all three races; the Mount Nemo gate fee is not included.
Entry fees include race maps and a 2026 DontGetLost Adventure Running membership for insurance. Refunds: 80% before 12 November, none after; registration closes at midnight on 12 November. A Saturday social with race analysis at a local waterhole is planned. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
