Scuppernong : Golden Kettle Trail Series
This is a trail race held at the Scuppernong Trailhead inside Kettle Moraine State Forest. The event starts and finishes at the Scuppernong Trailhead; all looped courses begin and end there. The course system runs mostly through wooded forest and is marked with colored flags.
Choose from multiple looped distances:
- Short Course: 3.1 miles, red flags
- Mid Course: 5.4 miles, yellow flags
- Long Course: 10.8 miles, blue flags
- Golden Gauntlet: 19.3 miles, the three courses run in sequence; check-in is required after each loop
The first mile on the route is hilly, followed by more runnable sections. Trails are generally not highly technical except for some sections such as Oleson Cabin and Blue Springs, and runners may encounter rocks, roots and other natural trail hazards.
Aid on course is cupless. Long course aid is located at the trailhead and provides water, Hammer Heed and sweet and salty snacks. Portable restrooms, trash and recycling bins are available at the trailhead.
Parking is available at the trailhead; vehicles entering the park must display an annual Wisconsin State Park sticker or a day pass. Day passes at the park may require cash or check. The event includes online results, free photos, locally made finishers medals, post-race snacks, live music at select races, and a craft beer token for participants age 21 and older.
