Geode Challenge Races
The Geode Challenge Races are held in October at the beach area of Geode State Park. The event began in 2018 as a fundraiser for renovation of the park concession building; work on that building is ongoing and future fundraising for other park projects is planned.
The format includes the following distances:
- 5k out-and-back
- 12k single perimeter loop
- 25k two-loop option
The course uses park trails. The event operates two aid stations on course and provides water at the start/finish area. Shelter 4 and Shelter 1 will offer light snacks and water. Registration for each distance includes a T-shirt. Listed registration fees are $45 for the 5k, $50 for the 12k, and $55 for the 25k. A $15 discount applies for participants 15 and under; the discount is available through a registration code or honored on race day.
The race start/finish area and parking are located at the beach shelter area. The event is dog friendly; dogs must be kept on a short leash to avoid causing harm on narrow single-track sections.
