Gateshead Trail 10k
The Gateshead Trail 10k is an introductory-level trail running race held in Swalwell, Gateshead, within Derwent Walk Country Park. The event is listed as the 11th edition on 29 August 2026 and covers a 10 km route on wide paths and trails.
The course is traffic free and designed with runner enjoyment in mind. It follows scenic riverside and country park paths, includes a double loop near the top of the route so runners remain close to one another, and has only a few inclines, which contributes to personal best potential.
Entry is open to runners aged 15 years and over. The route is described as suitable for a broad range of abilities, from first-time trail runners to experienced club athletes.
Race day features a start-finish village with food stalls and music. Additional listed amenities include free on-site parking, a designer finisher medal that doubles as a bottle opener, a free goodie bag, local gourmet food vans and barista coffee, and free professional photos available through the event Facebook page. Volunteers are offered free entry and a T-shirt. The event typically attracts a sell-out field of 2000 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
