Galena Sky Trail Races is an outdoor timed event organized by Ornery Mule Racing at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, Illinois. The course uses resort trails and returns to the same central area each lap. Final Lap timing tracks each runner's mileage; awards are based on total mileage completed. Ties in mileage are broken by who reached the mileage earliest. The short loop opens later in the day and loops must be completed before the organizer's cutoff for the loop to count.
Included with entry are a race shirt, finisher medal, and a post-race meal. A post-race event with music and a DJ is provided at the venue, and additional meal tickets are available for purchase at stated prices. Awards include overall male and female places, age group awards in ten-year spans, and a costume prize for best warrior theme.
