Franklin Mountains TrailFest

Franklin Mountains TrailFest is a four day trail running event held January 21–24, 2027 in Franklin Mountains State Park, Tom Mays Unit, off Transmountain Road in El Paso, Texas. The program includes a trail running film festival and a set of races across multiple distances.

The course uses desert singletrack and mountain trails that are rocky and exposed. North Franklin Peak rises to 7,192 feet, roughly 3,000 feet above the city, and several races circle the mountain and climb to the summit. From the summit it is possible on a clear day to see into Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico. The King and Queen of the Mountain is a steep out-and-back summit effort with no aid stations and a fixed cutoff; participants must carry their own supplies.

Thursday features a Trail Running Film Festival at FLIX Brewhouse West El Paso; film festival tickets are sold separately and are included with the Frenzy pass. Frenzy package options bundle the King and Queen plus weekend races, for example Frenzy Half Flite and Frenzy Full Flite with listed fees. Primitive camping is available in the state park with no on-site water. Registration closes December 31. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
