The course uses desert singletrack with rocky, exposed terrain. The 50K and 100K routes circumnavigate the mountain and include summit climbs. The 30K and the King and Queen of the Mountain also reach North Franklin Peak.
Additional event features include a Trail Running Film Festival held Thursday at FLIX Brewhouse West El Paso and historical sections on the eastern flank where remnants of a 1910 to 1915 tin mining, milling, and smelting operation remain. Franklin Mountains State Park offers primitive camping with no water on-site. The event is presented across four days and includes multi-race Frenzy package options that pair the film festival with selected races.
