Foxton Hound Ultra
The Foxton Hound Ultra is a trail race near Market Harborough offering two distances:
- 50k route using parts of the Harborough Round and other long distance footpaths.
- 100k route following the Harborough Round through Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.
Both routes pass villages and points of interest such as Houghton on the Hill, West Haddon, Coton, Stoke Albany, Foxton Locks, the Naseby Battle Field and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. The event is licensed by the TRA and held under UKA rules.
Entries are priced at £75 for the 100k and £50 for the 50k. Club members affiliated to UK Athletics receive a £2 discount. Minimum age on race day is 20. Entry transfers close seven days before the event. The 100k has an overall cut off of 18 hours with progressive checkpoint cut offs from Checkpoint 3; the 50k has a 9 hour finish cut off and no checkpoint cut offs. Pacers are permitted on the 100k from Checkpoint 5.
GPX files and written route instructions are available and the course will be waymarked, but runners are expected to self navigate. Tracking and timing are provided by Open Tracking with trackers issued at registration. Free guided recces are offered prior to the race.
On course support includes professional first aid and volunteers at aid stations. The 100k has seven checkpoints and the 50k has three. Aid stations provide a mix of food and drink with vegetarian and vegan options and hot food at specified checkpoints. Mandatory kit lists are published and the race is cupless. Prizes are awarded to the top three men and women in each race and all finishers receive a commissioned medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
