About the race
The Friends of Thornbridge Outdoors organise the Thornbridge Outdoors 20, a 20.3 miles walk and run with 850 m of elevation across the Peak District. The event starts and finishes at Thornbridge Outdoors and follows a clockwise route that includes a lap of the Thornbridge Estate and passes Little Longstone, Longstone Edge, Eyam, Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge, Baslow Edge, Baslow and Chatsworth before returning to Thornbridge Outdoors. Much of the route will be signposted.
Checkpoints are positioned at about 5 km, 7.5 km, 12 km, 16.5 km, 21.5 km, 28 km and the finish at 32.5 km. White Rake checkpoint will provide water and the Eyam and Baslow checkpoints will offer food and water. Car parking will be available in a field at Thornbridge Outdoors unless the ground is exceptionally wet. Camping in own tents, bell tents and rooms in the self catering lodge will be available to book. T shirts will be available to pre-order and a curry meal at the finish area will be offered for £10 and can be pre-booked.
Runners must be at least 18 years old; walkers must be at least 16 years old and under 18s must be accompanied by an over 18. Prizes will be awarded in age categories including Under 23, Senior Open 24 to 39, V40, V50, V60 and Over 70; prizes are only given to those who follow the route and finish with the correct equipment as specified in pre-race information.
