Forth Ultra and Team Relay 2027
The event is a circular ultramarathon around the Firth of Forth estuary on 24 April 2027. Options are solo, pairs, or four person relay teams over a total distance of 44 miles / 71 km with 1,739 ft of ascent and descent. The route is waymarked so no navigation is required and combines coastal and inland sections with mixed terrain : approximately 85% road and 15% trail.
The course crosses two Forth bridges and links the Fife Coastal Path with the John Muir Way. The route starts at Helix Park in Falkirk, passes the Kelpies, crosses the Kincardine bridge and the Forth Road Bridge, follows the John Muir Way to Bo'ness, runs through Kinneil estate and returns to the Helix finish.
There are four stages with three checkpoints offering water and snack stations, plus a finish area. All stages are chip timed and participants receive a finisher medal and race t-shirt; on-course support includes marshals, first aid teams and toilet access at stage changeovers. Solo entries are registered for UTMB points.
Entry categories and minimum guidance are specified: runners must be 18 or older; solo entrants are advised to have regular experience of 20 mile runs and pairs are advised to have regular 10 km experience. Two time cut-offs apply during the event, including an overall 11 hour limit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
