About the race
The Fort Gordon Marine Mud Challenge takes place on September 12, 2026 at 19th St & Barnes Ave, Fort Gordon, GA. The main course is 4 miles, run off-road with more than 30 obstacles, a stream crossing, hills and mud. Old clothes and shoes or boots are recommended and a change of clothes is advised; pockets and pants without drawstrings may not hold up on the course.
There are competitive and non-competitive runs and an additional event titled Battle of the Branches. Competitive entries are reserved for athletes who can run the entire course and complete every obstacle; competitive waves run four people per wave with 45 seconds between waves. Non-competitive waves run ten people per wave with 60 seconds between waves. Every runner will be timed using electronic timing. All competitors must complete all obstacles.
Entry fees vary by event. The first 800 registrations will receive an event shirt. Participants must be 13 years of age or older unless a parent or guardian approval is provided to waive the requirement.
Volunteers are needed for tasks such as parking and passing out water; registered volunteers will be contacted by a coordinator. Gate 6 is the only gate available to people without DoD ID cards. Non DoD pass holders must obtain a visitor pass at least one week in advance. Vehicle occupants over age 16 must show valid picture ID. Free parking is available near the start. Wash down and changing facilities and water will be available. The U.S. Army will not provide insurance and is not responsible for loss or injury.
