Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon
The Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon takes place in the Forest of Dean on Sunday 21 March 2027. The event is organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission, local volunteers and partner organisations. Proceeds are used to support charities locally and nationally.
The officially measured half marathon covers 13 miles 192.5 yards on way-marked, multi-terrain trails. The route starts and finishes at the Speech House Hotel and runs in a clockwise loop on well maintained forest tracks. The course is fully signed and marshalled, marked on the ground with yellow paint and provided with mile-markers. Trails generally include gentle inclines and a few short road sections; spikes should not be worn. Lead cyclists will guide the field and roads will be closed where necessary to allow crossings.
There are three water stations placed at roughly 5 km intervals and drinks will be available at the finish. Race results are determined by gun timing under UKA rules and personal times are recorded by integrated chip timing; race bibs with chips are issued on the day and may be retained as a souvenir.
The race has been chosen as the Trail Running Association British Trail Running Championships short distance event and as an England Athletics Age Group Masters trail qualifier. Entrants must be 17 or older on race day. Entry fees and registration deadlines are published by the organisers. Medical cover, radio communications and on-course marshals are provided.
