About the race
The Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon is an annual trail race held in late September in the Forest of Dean. The officially measured half marathon (13 miles 192.5 yards) runs entirely on way marked forest trails with no road crossings. The course starts and finishes at Speech House and uses Forestry Commission trails, including some sections that are hillier than the spring course. The route is fully signed, marshalled and marked by yellow paint on the ground, with mile markers and lead cyclists to guide runners.
Water stations are provided at approximately 5 km intervals and drinks are available at the finish. Under UKA rules, official results are determined by gun timing while individual performance is also recorded by integrated chip timing. Race bibs with timing chips are issued on the day from a tent close to the start; runners must ensure the chip, race number and registered name match. Bibs are not collected after the race and may be kept.
Entrants must be 17 years or older. Standard entry fees are £34 for UKA affiliated club members and £36 for non affiliated runners; a non refundable processing fee of £5 is included. Manual entries incur an additional £3. Entries must be received by midnight on 12 September 2027. Late online entries may be available at a higher fee until 24 September 2027 on a first come, first served basis. There are no entries on the day.
The event is organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission. Proceeds support local and national charities. Medical cover is provided around the course and at the finish, and an information point will be sited close to the start and finish.
