Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon
The Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon will take place in late September 2026. The event is organised by the Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission, and proceeds are donated to charity.
The officially measured course is a half-marathon (13 miles 192.5 yards) run entirely on forest trails with no road crossings. The route starts and finishes at Speech House and uses way-marked trails laid out by the Forestry Commission. The multi-terrain route is fully signed and marshalled, marked by yellow paint on the ground, and features mile markers. It uses a number of trails different from the spring course and is described as slightly hillier. Lead cyclists will accompany the race.
Water stations are provided at approximately 5 km intervals and drinks are available at the finish. Road running shoes or trainers are acceptable; spikes should not be worn because the course includes short gravel sections.
Entrants must be 17 years or older on the day of the race. Entry fees include a non refundable processing fee of £5.00; UKA affiliated club members £34.00, non-affiliated runners £36.00, late entry £50.00. Advance online entry closed on 13 September and a limited number of late entries may be available on a first come, first served basis until places are sold out.
Race results are determined by gun timing under UKA rules and by chip timing for personal performance. Race bibs with integrated timing chips are issued on the day from a tent close to the start. Timing services are provided by Rogue Racer. Photographic coverage is supplied by Charles Whitton Photography. Medical cover is provided by GDR Solutions Ltd with radio communications, mobile units, and repatriation vehicles in attendance. A medal will be presented to every finisher and trophies are awarded for first places in senior, veteran age categories and local winner categories.
