Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon

The Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon is an annual road-free race held on way-marked forest trails in late September. The officially measured course is 13 miles 192.5 yards and uses a number of different trails laid out by the Forestry Commission. The route starts and finishes at Speech House, is marshalled and signed, and is marked on the ground with yellow paint and mile markers. The course is multi-terrain, generally on well-maintained tracks, and is slightly hillier than the spring course.

The event is organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission. Proceeds are donated to charity. The race is led by lead cyclists and water stations are provided at approximately 5 km intervals, with drinks also available at the finish. Road running shoes or trainers are acceptable; spikes should not be worn because the course includes short gravel sections.

Entrants must be 17 years or older on race day. UKA affiliated club members and non-affiliated runners pay different registration fees; a non refundable processing fee applies and manual entries attract an additional processing fee. Entries received by the stated closing date are issued with a personalised racing bib and integrated timing chip.

Race results are determined by gun timing under UKA rules with personal performance confirmed by chip timing. Every finisher receives a medal and a range of trophies is awarded across gender and age categories. Medical cover and radio communications are provided throughout the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
