Forbidden Forest 30-Hour Ultra
The Forbidden Forest 30-Hour Ultra is a timed trail event held in Roosevelt Forest in Stratford, Connecticut, on October 3–4, 2026. The race uses an irregular loop of about 2.5 miles per lap with a maximum elevation gain of 201 feet. Course terrain includes roots, rocks, rolling hills, and one larger climb known as "OMG." The trail is marked with pink flags and white signs. Timing is electronic with chip timing provided by Fast Track Timing.
The event offers multiple distance options and a 30-hour window in which participants may complete as many laps as they choose. Completing 40 loops within the time limit (100 miles) earns a finisher buckle at no extra charge. Overall race winners are determined by the greatest number of miles completed in 30 hours and placements are awarded first through third in male and female categories; reaching 100 miles awards the buckle but does not alone determine race winners.
Race logistics note a single pavilion aid station supplying hydration, GU, and ultra snacks throughout day and night, plus prepared items such as PB&J or honey sliders, pizzas, potatoes, and sponsored breakfast sandwiches. Runners may set up a personal area in designated lots; town ordinance prohibits overnight camping without prior permission. Pacers are permitted under event rules: one pacer per runner on course at a time, registration and waiver required, with paid 12-hour and 6-hour pacer options. Registration is final with no refunds, transfers, or deferrals. Entrants must be at least 18 or have a guardian-signed waiver. Portions of proceeds support local charities including the Forest Commission, Veterans Museum, and library. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
