Firefly Night Run - George
The Firefly Night Run is a trail running event held at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens in George and organised by Gracehill College to raise funds for a school bus. The event takes place in the gardens and is designed for families and community participants.
Participation options include:
- 3 km Run / Walk for adults and kids
- 5 km Run for adults and kids
- 10 km Run for adults
Two water points are provided, one near the 5 km mark and one at the finish. Every finisher receives a medal. Podium prizes are awarded to first, second and third place men and women in each category; for the 3 km category, only kids up to age 10 receive podium prizes. Prize giving happens shortly after all podium finishers in a category have crossed the finish line.
The event site offers food and family activities after the run, including burgers, curry, vetkoek, cold drinks, a jumping castle and kiddies games, with both cash and card payment options. Dogs are permitted when socialized and leashed, and participants using prams are asked to ensure the pram is suitable for trails. The organiser expects more than 300 participants.
