About the race
The Fallen Soldiers Memorial event on May 31, 2027 at Great Falls Maryland offers three distance options that run along the C&O Canal beside the Potomac River. The course follows a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change and uses out-and-back routes for each distance. The event route passes near waterfalls that are visible after the race. Distances include: - 5k - 10k - Half marathon The event is chip timed.
Registered finishers receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (drifit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for those registered before May 19 and extras are available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. The half marathon has a 3:15 completion time limit. Water stations are provided: seven along the half marathon at approximate mile markers 1.55, 2.8, 5.5, 6.55, 7.6, 10.3 and 11.55; four along the 10k at approximately 1.55, 2.8, 3.4 and 4.65; one along the 5k at approximately 1.55.
Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are located in the facility by the roundabout. Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack series and toward the Spring Series. A virtual race option is available.
Walkers and strollers are welcome. The event partners with Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation. Packet pickup is available at the event and there will be no on-site race registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
