Exterminator Fell Race
The Exterminator is a Totley AC fell race held on 6 September 2026. The course is approximately 17 miles (about 27 km) with a total climb of around 1,066 metres and is run under FRA rules as a Category B Long event.
The route uses varied terrain including road, track and footpath through woodland, fields, open moorland, villages and hamlets. The course is not fully waymarked and contains several route choices; parts are marshalled while other sections require self navigation. Competitors must follow the marked route where areas are shown as out of bounds on the course map and must stick to footpaths through the Longshaw estate. Crossing private fields such as the Totley horse field is prohibited.
FRA Best Practice kit is mandatory and will be spot checked before and after the race. Required items include a waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, physical map of the route, suitable navigational compass, whistle and emergency food. Use of GPX for navigation is prohibited and may lead to disqualification. Two water stations are provided but no single use cups; runners should carry their own cup or bottle.
Entries are available online until 02/09/2026 with on the day entry also possible. Entry fees are £12 for online pre entry and £13 on the day cash only. Facilities at the pavilion include toilets and limited showers; parking near the start is limited and will be signposted on the day.
Prize giving takes place at the pavilion after category results are finalised, with awards for the top three men and women, first Totley runner, first team and several age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
