Essex AA Cross Country Relays

A team cross country event at Chingford Plain, Epping Forest, on Saturday 19 September 2026, hosted by Orion Harriers and organised by Essex Athletics. Entries are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis; waiting lists will be kept once the entry limit is reached.

Race formats for 2026 are as follows:

  • U14/U16/U18 Girls: 3 legs of 3k (1 lap)
  • U14/U16/U18 Boys: 3 legs of 3k (1 lap)
  • Seniors and vets: 3 legs of 6k (2 laps); Senior Men: 4 legs of 6k (2 laps)

Vets teams are V40, V50 and V60. Junior age groups are defined by school year and birth date ranges: U14 (school years 7 and 8), U16 (years 9 and 10), U18 (years 11 and 12). Seniors are athletes born before 1/9/2009. Veteran age groups are based on age on the day of competition, 19/09/26.

Team managers must purchase a ticket for each team entered and provide age group, sex, and up to eight potential athletes with name, date of birth and England Athletics URN for eligibility checks. Managers must complete a declarations sheet within 24 hours after the races to confirm runners and running order.

Entry fees are £24 per junior team; seniors and vets are £30 per team of three and £40 per team of four. Medals for winning teams will be awarded after each race where possible. The event is held under UKA Rules. All athletes must hold current England Athletics registration and be eligible to compete for Essex. Athletes may run in a maximum of one leg. UKA Anti-Doping rules apply for 12 months from entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
