Railway Races
The Railway Races is an inaugural running event presented by Aetna on the Ecusta Trail in Hendersonville, North Carolina, beginning and ending at the Hendersonville Welcome Center. The event is scheduled for September 18, 2027, and registration opens May 27, 2027.
The course uses a smooth paved greenway with gentle grades and an easy-to-follow out-and-back layout. The event includes a professional chip-timing system (MyLaps), timing mats, and a GPS route for course navigation. Organizers provide a race shirt (free if registered by August 16), a custom inaugural finisher medal for all finishers, one-of-a-kind awards for overall and age group winners, and complimentary race photos.
A virtual race option is available; virtual participants receive event swag by mail. The event is stroller friendly and allows dogs on short leashes; participants are responsible for their pets and must yield to other trail users. The Railway Races supports Bike.Walk.HVL and accepts volunteers.
Registration is non-refundable. Alternatives such as transfer to the virtual event, deferral, or changing race distance are offered under the event's policies and deadlines. The course is described as well marked and accessible for a range of participants.
