About the race
The Eastnor Castle Backyard takes place on a 4.167 mile loop inside Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Ledbury (HR8). Solo runners compete in a timed Backyard format where each new lap begins on the hour; if a lap is not completed within the hour the runner withdraws. Relay teams run on the same loop in a continuous format and may choose when to start laps.
The course follows a figure‑of‑eight route on estate roads and farm tracks with views of Eastnor Castle and surrounding hill features. Terrain is a mix of surfaces: 60% tarmac, 20% stone track and 20% grass. There is no on‑course drinks station; a drinks and snack point is available at the lap turnaround. A range of caterers will be present and on‑site facilities include toilets, coffee vans, a bag drop and a changing tent. Camping is available for participants who bring their own tent or vehicle; camping includes access to portaloos and drinking water but no electricity hook ups or showers.
Parking for day visitors is charged at £5 per car (cash only). Nearest train station is Ledbury, about 4 miles from Eastnor. All finishers receive a 10cm x 10cm two-sided event medal; ribbon colours distinguish the 8hr Backyard and relay participants.
