About the race

The Dursley Dozen is a 12 mile cross-country running race held on Sunday 21 February 2027. The 2027 event is the 37th edition and starts on May Lane near The Old Spot in Dursley. The route includes just over 2000 feet of climbing and crosses a mix of terrain: woodland trails, open country, mud, gravel paths and some short road sections.

The course climbs Hill Road for almost two hundred metres before entering woodland and rising onto Stinchcombe Hill Golf Course. Runners re-enter the woods for a sequence of climbs and descents, pass the Leaf and Ground café and pond, then continue on undulating trails to a precipice where ropes are provided before emerging at Drakestone Point. Exposed paths run around the edge of the golf course and return to the woods.

About one and a half miles of muddy woodland paths lead to a short road section, more woodland, and a steep descent down Axe Lane to the New Inn at Waterley Bottom. A steep ascent follows to the hilltop and a circuit of Breakheart Quarry. A quiet country road section brings competitors back into the woods ahead of a final descent into town. The finish is on pedestrianised Parsonage Street outside the Dursley Market Hall, where finishers receive a technical T shirt and sponsor items.

Surfaces are predominantly woodland trails that are alternately muddy, stony, and rooty, with numerous obstacles and some short on-road stretches. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
