Bundoran Dune Run

Overview

The Bundoran Dune Run is an annual sporting event held in Bundoran, County Donegal. The event features a variety of routes that utilize the natural landscape of the coastline, including sandy beaches and uneven dune terrain. It is organized as a fundraiser for the local GAA team, Realt Na Mara Bundoran, with proceeds contributing to the park development fund.

Race Categories

Participants can choose from three distinct distances and formats:

• 10 km Dune Run Challenge - A route across beach sand and dunes on uneven ground.
• 5 km Beach Run - A seaside run located entirely on the beach sand.
• 5 km Beach Walk - A social version of the 5 km route for those moving at a relaxed pace.

Participation and Logistics

The event is open to participants aged 15 and over. It features chip timing for all categories. Race packs, including race numbers, chips, and t-shirts, are posted to participants approximately two weeks before the event. There is a maximum capacity for entries, and registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Facilities

Check-in takes place at the Tullan Strand Beach car park. While there is no bag drop or lock-up facility available, toilets are provided at the car park. Limited parking is available at the event site, with additional paid parking located within walking distance in Bundoran town. Outdoor showers are available at the Main Beach and near the Tourist Office. Refreshments such as tea, coffee, and snacks are available for purchase on-site.
