Dragon's Tail Stair Climb Challenge
The Dragon's Tail Stair Climb Challenge is scheduled for January 16, 2027 at the Tech Ridge Staircase near Dixie Technical College in St. George, UT. The event centers on a 333 step staircase that participants ascend and descend as part of several race formats.
Distances offered:
- 5K
- 1K (about 0.8 miles)
Race formats include a Sprint Challenge run in heats, two timed endurance formats with repeating laps, and a Knights Quest six hour endurance variant. For the endurance formats the initial laps have fixed time allowances and the allowed time per lap is reduced by one minute after every five laps; racers who complete Lap 24 advance to a final lap to the top. All racers who complete the first lap receive a finisher medal and milestone charms are awarded for subsequent laps. Winners in specified categories are the fastest male and female competitors and top finishers in the final lap receive special recognition titles.
Packet pickup is scheduled for January 15 at the Hangar on Tech Ridge; morning pickup on event day is available for a $10 fee. Course maps and a route for the 5K and 1K are provided for participants. Strollers are not allowed unless carried up the staircase. Pricing tiers and combined challenge pricing are listed by registration deadline dates.
