Dovedale Dash

  • 4 3/4 mile main cross country race
  • 1 1/4 mile Mini Dash for U12s

The Dovedale Dash is a cross country race held around the village of Thorpe near Ashbourne in the south of the Derbyshire Peak District. The main course runs mainly along field paths and open ground in the valleys of the rivers Dove and Manifold. A notable feature of the route is the crossing of the River Dove at the Stepping Stones. The race traditionally starts from Thorpe pastures and attracts around 1200 to 1400 participants in a typical year.

The Mini Dash is a 1 1/4 mile childrens race around the foot of Thorpe Cloud. It is for U12s (11 and under on race day) with U12 and U9 categories. The Mini Dash route goes clockwise around Thorpe Cloud, down to the River Dove and alongside the river to the stepping stones, then uphill through Lin Dale to the finish. Parents or guardians may accompany their children.

Entries open and close on the dates published for the event. Entry fees listed for the scheduled event include prices for adults and under 18s in the main race and a separate fee for the Mini Dash. Parking is provided on Thorpe pastures and has caused cancellations in wet years when the car park became unusable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
