Dirty Feet Beat The Buzzer
Beat The Buzzer is a backyard ultra-style trail event held at Stake Lake near Kamloops. Competitors run repeated loop laps of about 6–6.5 km on a mixed-terrain course that includes single track, double track, climbs and descents, and sections of rocky and sandy footing. The course is looped and designed so participants can complete one lap per hour; a runner or team must complete each lap within the hour to be eligible to start the next lap.
Entries are offered for solo runners and teams of two, and there are separate entry categories for running under six hours or over six hours. Teams are limited to 24 hours of running; only solo entrants are eligible for the advertised cash prize of $200. Custom race items include a Jakroo running hat for finishers and a Dirty Feet belt buckle for solo runners who reach 100 km and for teams that reach 24 hours. Additional event lap prizes and sponsored challenges are scheduled during daytime laps, with a variety of novelty and performance awards.
Logistics note that participants must manage much of their own support: runners are responsible for their own food and water and may set up a ribboned-off staging area for long-haul efforts. A light food station will be available at the start/finish area and aid food may be removed after extended distances. Pacers and outside on-course assistance are not permitted.
