defib.run

defib.run is a community navigational run based at Chinley Community Centre, SK23 6BE. The course requires visiting six phone-box defibrillators and returning to the Centre over a roughly 10+ km route. Participants receive a paper map and follow an unmarked course in any order; a rolling start is used and stamps are placed in each defib to prove visits.

The event is organised to raise funds for the parish defibrillators. In 2016 the local community association adopted six red phone boxes and installed defibrillators at a cost of £1500 each. Those devices are nearing the end of their service lives, and the event directs entry fees and donations toward keeping the defibrillators running or replacing them. Entries are priced at £10 and are scheduled to open early 2027.

The run forms part of Chinley Fête, a village festival taking place in the same location. Parking in the village is extremely limited; the Community Centre sits opposite the railway station and has direct train connections with Manchester Piccadilly. A map of the course is provided on race day. The six defibrillator sites are St James, Western Lane, Whitehough, Post Office, Chapel Milton and The Wash, with the Community Centre serving as the start and finish point. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
